Foxfrost waited by the camp entrance for Tinypaw. She was going to teach her how to hunt in Pine Forest today. //Maybe if she does well in training we can actually go hunting,// She considered.

Tinypaw raced to her mentor's side. "Ready to go!" She yowled, swiping her tail back and forth.

"Good," Foxfrost said to her apprentice. "I'm glad to see you so enthusiastic for your first lesson," She commented. "Today we will go to Pine Forest so you may practice hunting small prey such as mice, voles, and squirrels," She explained while starting towards their training location. With a swish of her tail, she signaled for the young cat to follow.

Tinypaw trotted behind her mentor at a brisk pace. She was going to enjoy every second of this! She could bring her kit-hood friend, Lightkit, the juicest piece of fresh-kill she hunted, if she caught anything.

After some time walking, Foxfrost finally arrived at the clearing she had picked out for training the other day. She turned around and waited in case Tinypaw needed to catch up. "The first thing you need to know about hunting forest animals is the hunter's crouch," Foxfrost explained. "Try to position yourself like this, and keep your tail low and still so that you don't rustle any leaves. No matter how frost-encrusted they look, they can still make noise." She showed Tinypaw an example of the stance while talking. "Now you try the stance," She instructed, ready to give tips if her apprentice needed them.

Tinypaw crouched down into an almost- perfect hunting crouch. "I already know this one." She meowed, lashing her tail. "I'm ready."

"Good," Foxfrost said. "Now sniff the air and tell me what you can smell," She told Tinypaw. Foxfrost could already tell that there was a squirrel's nest in a tree nearby, and a mouse a little further away, but she wanted to know if Tinypaw knew that too.

Tinypaw closed her eyes, letting the scents flood her. "Squirell, mouse... Bird... Rat. Wait rat?" She sniffed again. "Stale, nevermind."

"Great!" Foxfrost said. "Do you know which one is closest? We can start the next step on the closest one; stalking it." She explained.

Tinypaw sniffed again. "The... mouse. No, the squirell."

"Today let's try to get the mouse," Foxfrost suggested. "Show me how you would stalk it," She said.

Tinypaw demonstrated a perfect hunting crouch; her tail slightly brushing the leaves, but she raised it when it created too much clatter. She stalked towards the mouse, head low, and prepared her haunches for the spring.

"Perfect," Foxfrost whispered as to not aleart the mouse. "Do you think you're ready to try pouncing at it?"

Tinypaw flicked her tail in a signal that meant 'ready.' She stalker forward just a bit more, and pounced. The mouse was flattened under her, and she delivered the killing bite silently.

"Well done!" Foxfrost complimented her apprentice on her first catch. "You've officially helped feed the Clan, many cats will be thankful for that,"
